January blues gotta be beat! So, our theme is SAD!

Last week, we did some SHARING. This week, we are focused on APPRECIATION. Next week, there will be a celebration and DELIGHT.

Who do we want to thank? And help you be grateful to? Let's focus on Team & Local Community Members.

We think special shout-outs to businesses you may not know who employ your neighbours are a fun way to start the year. We hope you enjoy learning about them, too!

But, what about your team?

Deep in darkness, the year's first month is a great time to stop and say thank you. The words matter, but you can also go further to drive the point.

Wanna share thanks with a gift? After all, it's odd to get one in the month after the holiday season, so why not surprise and be a little different.

Here are some local ideas:

• Wellness could be a new year's goal. Check out: DeepMarine Collagen​
• Directly attack the lack of sun? Check out: Bronze Baxx Tanning
• Escape to Jasper or Lake Louise or Valemount and stay at great hotels.
• Meditation, maybe? Take a look at Puti Meditation College​
• Something with a kick? Burwood Distillery and their restaurant partner, Veranda at the Stables, could be a great night out.
• High River's own Highwood White Owl Whisky or one of the distillery's other fine products is an affordable and easy-to-find option.
• Live music and a road trip? You can go to Red Deer for that! Bo's Bar and Stage doesn't disappoint!
• Or a Calgary night out? What about Vintage Steakhouse? Or the Oliver building new concepts?
• Could you support their home reno with a gift certification? Maybe Zen Living, Ashton Construction or Goldray Glass is for you.

Local Community Members

There are many business-to-business that your organization could hire, too. If you want to support local, check out some of the service providers we know:

• If you, your team, or your company want to sponsor or participate in networks, there are many ways available with the Alberta IoT Association, Alberta Women Entrepreneurs Association, Financial Executives International and Clean Resource Innovation Network. These are all great business opportunities!
